Louis Riel Let Justice Be Done

Did Louis Riel Deserve to Hang?

At the recent British Columbia Metis Federation (BCMF) Annual General Meeting president, Keith Henry, proudly announced the historic debut in BC of the Rielco production of the “Trial of Louis” at the Columbia Theatre in New Westminster on November 15 & 16, (Louis Riel Day) 2003. A Gala evening is planned for the evening of November 15.

The production is a world class performance. Authentic in dialogue, costume and setting the play provides audiences with an opportunity to see and hear the proceedings of Canada’s most famous and controversial trial. Audences are left to consider many of the same questions lawyers and historians have been asking for the past 128 years: Was Riel’s trial fair? Was Louis Riel a martyr or a traitor? What would have happened if riel had lived?
