THE TRUTH ABOUT RIEL,
A great many people, imperfectly acquainted with
what they were talking or writing about, have freely ex-
pressed opinions regarding Riel’s fate.
It would be difficult, almost impossible indeed, for
any one who has not been closely connected with what
took place in the North-western territory, to see clearly into the intricate state of affairs that has convulsed that portion of British America since the Metis’ outbreak ; which had its prologue in 1869, and its epilogue in 1885, in the hanging of Riel, the recognized leader of the French
Half-breeds.
