The Friends of Louis Riel Society are pleased to announce the launch of our campaign to ensure the House of Commons in Parliamentary Session recognizes and pays tribute to the 150th anniversary of Louis Riel guiding the entrance of the North-Western Territories and Rupert’s Land into the Canadian Confederation with the formation of the province of Manitoba in 1870.

Through petitions, posters, meetings and special events – all leading up to 2020, we are urging all Canadians to join together calling on Prime Minister Trudeau and the Canadian Parliament to recognize Louis Riel as Canada’s Indigenous (Metis) Father of Confederation.
